The Essential Basics of Backgammon Strategies – Part One

The aim of a Backgammon match is to move your chips around the game board and pull them off the board faster than your challenger who works harder to do the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a match of Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and luck. How far you can shift your checkers is up to the numbers from tossing the dice, and just how you shift your pieces are determined by your overall gambling strategies. Players use differing strategies in the different stages of a game dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Plan

The aim of the Running Game tactic is to lure all your pieces into your inner board and pull them off as quickly as you could. This plan concentrates on the pace of moving your chips with little or no efforts to hit or barricade your opponent’s pieces. The best scenario to use this plan is when you think you might be able to move your own chips quicker than your opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer checkers on the board; 2) all your pieces have past your competitor’s checkers; or 3) your opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking plan.

The Blocking Game Technique

The main goal of the blocking plan, by the name, is to stop the opponent’s pieces, temporarily, while not worrying about shifting your checkers rapidly. As soon as you’ve created the blockage for your opponent’s movement with a few chips, you can shift your other checkers rapidly from the game board. The player will need to also have a clear plan when to back off and move the pieces that you used for blocking. The game becomes intriguing when your opposition utilizes the same blocking tactic.
