As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The aim is to move your chips carefully around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition shifts their chips toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at specific instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.
The Priming Game Tactic
If the aim of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to move their pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get bumped, or result a bad position if he/she ever tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your board. After you have successfully assembled the prime to stop the movement of your competitor, your opponent doesn’t even get to toss the dice, and you move your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You’ll win the game for sure.
The Back Game Strategy
The objectives of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions in hope to improve your chances of winning, however the Back Game tactic relies on different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game plan is often used when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this tactic, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are relocated is partially the result of the dice roll.
