The Basics of Backgammon Strategies – Part One

The objective of a Backgammon game is to shift your checkers around the game board and bear those pieces from the game board quicker than your opponent who works harder to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a round of Backgammon requires both strategy and luck. How far you can move your chips is up to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and the way you move your chips are determined by your overall gambling strategies. Players use a number of plans in the different stages of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Plan

The goal of the Running Game tactic is to bring all your checkers into your home board and bear them off as fast as you can. This tactic focuses on the pace of moving your pieces with no efforts to hit or block your opponent’s chips. The best time to employ this technique is when you think you can shift your own pieces faster than your opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the game board; 2) all your pieces have moved beyond your competitor’s checkers; or 3) the opponent doesn’t employ the hitting or blocking plan.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The main aim of the blocking tactic, by the name, is to stop the opponent’s chips, temporarily, not worrying about moving your chips rapidly. Once you’ve created the blockage for your opponent’s movement with a couple of pieces, you can move your other chips swiftly from the game board. You should also have an apparent strategy when to extract and move the checkers that you employed for blocking. The game becomes interesting when your competitor utilizes the same blocking tactic.
