As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The goal is to move your chips safely around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opposition shifts their checkers toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With competing player chips heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at particular instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.
The Priming Game Tactic
If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift her checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any activity of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if she ever tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. After you’ve successfully built the prime to prevent the movement of your competitor, your competitor doesn’t even get to roll the dice, and you shift your checkers and roll the dice again. You’ll be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Plan
The objectives of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions in hope to better your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game strategy relies on alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game tactic is generally utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this tactic, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This tactic is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
