The Essential Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part One

The goal of a Backgammon game is to move your chips around the Backgammon board and bear those pieces from the game board faster than your opposing player who works just as hard to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a round of Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and luck. Just how far you will be able to move your pieces is left to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and just how you move your chips are decided on by your overall playing plans. Players use a number of techniques in the differing parts of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Technique

The aim of the Running Game technique is to bring all your chips into your inner board and pull them off as quick as you can. This plan concentrates on the speed of moving your pieces with little or no time spent to hit or block your competitor’s pieces. The best time to employ this tactic is when you believe you might be able to move your own chips faster than the opposition does: when 1) you have less chips on the game board; 2) all your pieces have past your competitor’s checkers; or 3) your opposing player doesn’t use the hitting or blocking plan.

The Blocking Game Technique

The main goal of the blocking strategy, by its name, is to block your competitor’s chips, temporarily, not worrying about moving your checkers quickly. After you’ve established the blockage for the opponent’s movement with a few pieces, you can shift your other chips rapidly off the board. The player will need to also have a good plan when to extract and move the chips that you utilized for the blockade. The game becomes intriguing when the opponent uses the same blocking strategy.
