The Essential Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part One

[ English ]

The aim of a Backgammon game is to shift your pieces around the game board and get them off the game board quicker than your opposing player who works just as hard to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a match in Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and good luck. Just how far you will be able to move your checkers is up to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and how you move your pieces are determined by your overall playing tactics. Enthusiasts use a few techniques in the different parts of a game depending on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Plan

The goal of the Running Game technique is to bring all your checkers into your inside board and get them off as quickly as you can. This tactic focuses on the speed of advancing your pieces with no efforts to hit or block your opponent’s pieces. The best time to employ this strategy is when you think you can move your own pieces quicker than the opponent does: when 1) you have less checkers on the board; 2) all your chips have moved beyond your competitor’s pieces; or 3) the opponent doesn’t use the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Strategy

The primary goal of the blocking strategy, by its name, is to block the opponent’s pieces, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your checkers quickly. After you’ve established the blockade for your competitor’s movement with a few checkers, you can move your other chips swiftly from the board. The player will need to also have a clear strategy when to withdraw and shift the chips that you employed for blocking. The game gets intriguing when the opponent utilizes the same blocking technique.
